Figari – Sud Corse Airport is located in the most southern part of Corsica, a French island located in the Mediterranean Sea. The Airport is also known under its French name, Aéroport de Figari-Sud Corse, its English name, Figari South Corsican Airport, and simply Figari Airport.

The airport’s IATA code is FSC and the ICAO code is LFKF.

It is a public airport that is operated by CCI d’Ajaccio et de la Corse du Sud and it serves the area of Porto-Vecchio.

It sits in the municipality of Figari, hence its name with the coastal town of Porto-Vecchio located approximately 22 km/13.7 mi northeast of the airport. The town of Bonifacio that is located on the most southern tip of Corsica is located almost the same distance south of the airport.

The island’s capital city, and also the capital of the French region that Corsica makes up, is Ajaccio, also known for being the birth town of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Corsica is the fourth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and it is located just west of the northern part of the Italian peninsula and southeast of the French mainland. The Italian island of Sardinia is located just south of the island.

Figari Airport is Corsica's third largest airport and it served 756,454 passengers in the year 2018, a number that was surpassed in 2021. Most of the airport's annual passenger count comes through domestic flights with around 15-18% of the passengers coming through it on international flights.

Airlines that frequent the airport include Air Corsica, Air France, Air France Hop, British Airways, EasyJet, Edelweiss Air, Luxair, Ryanair, Swiss International Air Lines, Transavia, and Volotea, but only Air Corsica flies all year round. The rest of the airlines offer seasonal flights only. Airport Shuttle Buses – An airport shuttle bus connects the airport with Porto-Vecchio bus station that is located just north of the yacht harbor. Timetables change monthly and there are fewer departures during the low season in the winter than during the high season in the summer. It is possible to travel to other destinations on the island from the bus station, but because the timetables change often and departures are few, the transfer times might not match up for direct transfers.

For visitors that want to go to the beach from the city there are also bus routes to a couple of the beaches outside of the city.

Taxis – Taxis are available outside the arrivals area and no pre-booking is necessary, although possible. Hotel Shuttles – Some of the area’s hotels offer their guests the service of transfer between the accommodation and the airport. These are booked through the hotel directly and are sometimes free of charge and sometimes at an additional cost.

Trains on the Island of Corsica

Corsica does have a railway network, but it doesn’t reach all areas of the island. The network has two lines, one goes from Ajaccio in the southwest to Bastia in the northeast, and the other goes from Calvi in the northwest to Ponte Leccia in the central north area. The two lines connect in Ponte Leccia. There are stops in several locations along the two lines. Traveling to or from Corsica by Ferry

Corsica has several ports that are connected to a number of ports in off-island locations, but it does not offer any inter-island ferries. It is possible to travel between the island and Marseille, Nice and Toulon on the French mainland, as well as between the island and a few destinations on the Italian peninsula.
